Depart for Ba Be National Park The journey from Hanoi to Ba Be National Park takes approximately 6 to 7 hours by car (around 240 kilometers), passing through peaceful countryside and scenic mountain landscapes. As you leave the hustle and bustle of the capital behind, the road winds through rice fields, rivers, and traditional stilt houses of ethnic minorities such as the Tay and Nung.
The drive becomes more dramatic as you ascend into the highlands of Bac Kan Province, with limestone karsts, forested hills, and lush valleys. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to stop for photos, meet local villagers, and sample authentic northern Vietnamese cuisine.
This route is not just a transfer – it's an immersive part of the travel experience, offering a first glimpse into the natural beauty and cultural richness of northern Vietnam.

the route from Ba Be Lake to Ban Gioc Waterfall is a scenic mountain journey of approximately 200 kilometers, taking about 5 to 6 hours by car. As you leave the peaceful waters of Ba Be behind, the road begins to wind through the rugged limestone landscapes and lush green valleys of northeastern Vietnam.
Travelers will pass through remote ethnic villages, rice terraces, corn fields, and highland plateaus where life moves at a slower, traditional pace. Along the way, you may see Tay, Nung, and H’mong communities, buffalo grazing in open fields, and local markets bustling with activity.
The further you go, the more dramatic the scenery becomes, with towering mountains and cliffs lining the road. The final stretch toward Ban Gioc reveals breathtaking views of the Quây Sơn River and the mist rising above the Ban Gioc Waterfall, which lies on the border between Vietnam and China.
This journey is not just a transfer - it’s a visual adventure through one of Vietnam’s most untouched and spectacular regions.

Just a few kilometers from Ban Gioc Waterfall, we will come visit Nguom Ngao Cave is one of the most spectacular limestone caves in northern Vietnam. Discovered in 1921 and opened to tourists in 1996, the cave stretches over 2 kilometers underground and features a stunning array of stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years.
The name “Nguom Ngao” comes from the Tay ethnic language and means “Tiger Cave,” inspired by legends that tigers once lived in the area. As you walk along the well-lit pathway inside, you’ll be amazed by the towering rock formations resembling human figures, lotus flowers, and mythical creatures.
Nguom Ngao offers a surreal underground experience and is a perfect complement to a visit to nearby Ban Gioc Waterfall, showcasing the hidden geological wonders of Viet Nam.
